Day 8
Anna called this morning to share the good news. She summitted yesterday and spent the night at Crater Camp (18,500 ft.). I didn't get to speak with her for very long, but she did mention that they made it down to Mweka Camp at 10,145 ft. Tomorrow, they will descend another 5,000 ft. and will be transferred back to the hotel, where she is looking forward to showering, brushing her teeth in an actual sink, and eating a hamburger!

What an inspiration you are! I'm planning on doing Kili next year (it's been a goal for about 15 years), so I'm doubly thrilled about your accomplishments. I'm so pleased that Dr. Buck (ok, he's Frank to me, as we've know each other since I was in junior high) told me all about your adventures -- it was most serendipitous that he saw my Facebook posting about my plan to go next year at the same time you were on the mountain! I'm tuning in daily to see where you are... All my best, Ann

Fantastic news! Vestavia Hills is VERY proud of you both. Anna, please see that Ashley makes it back - the Men's Chorus was noticeably short without his stellar singing voice this past Sunday.
Great job in showing the rest of us how to "get 'er dun!" Safe journey back down and back home! We are all extremely proud of you!!
